Principles of Cancer Registries: Data Management

In this course, you will learn about essential concepts and methods required to combine raw case reports received by the registry into a single consolidated record for each reported cancer.  This is accomplished using purpose-built registry software that meets international standards.  Then the course addresses the concepts and methods critical for maintaining data security (both physical and cybersecurity) and confidentiality of data that identifies individuals.  You will work through exercises that present some of the real problems registries face in data consolidation and determining appropriate release of data.

The intended audience is international, focused on staff in existing cancer registries.  The materials assume familiarity with basic epidemiological concepts, such as measures of burden and risk, and basic understanding of anatomy and cancer as a disease.
